The Scandals we get used to

Do we get desensitized ? I guess we do - if we see too much of a bad thing and it's acceptable to many.

I am sure this is true of pornography and violence. But I was reminded by a kind email from someone as I prepare to leave St Christopher's that the scandal of the housing here has not gone away, yet. We have just got used to it.

Why would a society leave so many people to live in such bad conditions ? Why would we tolerate such degradation ?

Here's a picture of one of those plucky souls who put up with the scandal of poor housing for years. Like many others she did not let it eat into her humanity. May we one day learn to live in equity with each other.
