We saw a fascinating film today thanks to the liverpool Friends of the Earth Group. The film who killed the elctric car ? http://www.whokilledtheelectriccar.com/ is an account of how the rather nice and it has to be said desirable EV (electric vehicle) was killed off by the automotive industry and oil industry. It's success would have cut profits for both manufacturer and maintenance sector and it argues and largely demonstrates how this happended.
The apparent passion for hydrogen fuel cells seems to be a distraction - nothing is likely to happen for many decades - so oil industry magnates can relax in the boardrooms while sea levels rise and children cough in the Claifornia smog.
